Kricket NAHM
Native American History Month
hanksgiving is my favorite holiday because we spend it with loved ones and eat amazing food. We are so grateful for all our family, friends, and amazing clients.
Although for us it is a day of tradition & celebration it's important to know that for many indigenous people it is a day of mourning and protest. For them it commemorates the arrival of settlers in North America and the centuries of oppression and genocide that came.
Hampton Moments is using this photoshoot as an attempt to honor Indigenous people as well as bring awareness to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. There is an epidemic of violence against Indigenous Women. For decades they have struggled with high rates of assault, abduction, and murder. We stand with them today and always as they fight against this.
Our beautiful model Kricket Lake is Choctaw, Cherokee, & Mohican and the beautiful headdresses and props are authentic pieces from the Indigenous cultures we are honoring.
If you'd like to learn more about their plight here are some resources
